I was glad I took immediate action both through calling PayPal directly myself and the back-up credit card company. I checked the credit card account that backs up my PayPal balance, and found that three more online purchases had been made. I simultaneously got an email from PayPal confirming that a $218 charge had gone through to my account. I got a call this morning from this number. I was able to persue this charge with Bank of America. I called the real paypal at 88 and there was no record of this charge to my account with the real paypal. This is a fraudulent company posing as paypal. I immediately hung up because PayPal doesn't have my SS#Ĭalled to enquire about a purchase and past due delivery,notified disconnected. I received a call from them and missed the call and when I called it back it said it was Paypal and they needed my social to verify my acct. Called PayPal's main line and they verified it was just a courtesy call to verify a payment I sent. Received a call from this number but did not answer. I had distinct background noises of a boiler room so this is not a small scam it is a HUGE scam. I told her that I would hang up and call our contact with Paypal and discuss it with the rep that answered the phone.if she was there I would talk to her.
She asked for the last 4 digits of our bank acct and I gave it to her then she asked for the full account number, at that point I began to question her for her name and employee number.
